Can I just say that we have the best dog ever! Day after day I watch her get smooshed, smothered, tugged on, sat on, and loved to death by Carter. Regardless of the abuse, she never barks or snaps at him, or even runs away. She just sits there and takes it, with the occasional “why me” glance. I tell her to walk away if she doesn’t like it, but I think she secretly loves the attention. While I’m praising her, here are a few other things I love about my dog: she doesn’t go to the bathroom on the lawn, she doesn’t play with Carter’s toys, she doesn’t bark… that much, she listens… fairly well, and she’s just so pretty. Though there are many many things that drive me nuts about Cali, I’m choosing not to think about those things today. Today I just love her : ) ~sg

Well, it’s confirmed. We are officially having a girl! Though we were told this at our first trimester screening, our doctor had said not to go buy anything pink until it was confirmed at the 20 week sonogram, which we just had. Our front running name is Hailey Leila Gaedtke, keeping with my family’s tradition of using the first letter of a deceased relative. The “H” comes from my Grampa Hy (Hyman Kaufman), my dad’s dad. Leila is my middle name and was my Grandma Marian’s middle name (my mom’s mom). We only have a couple of pictures to share (2 profiles & 2 crotch shots proving the gender) but I’d say she’s quite the handsome blur. ~sg

Rob had his nose surgery on Monday and has been home recovering nicely. Apparently Rob broke his nose a while back and never knew. As a result a bone spur formed causing all sorts of problems for Rob. So, the doctor went in and shaved it off and cleaned up all the problems it made. Everything went smoothly during the procedure. When Rob woke up he did so in style, with his dukes up, swinging at the nurses. He definitely made an impression because at least 3 nurses made comments on his rowdy behavior afterwards (making comments on why they were standing so far away from him and such). I guess this is fairly normal behavior for young men. Rob gets his stints out on Monday the 8th and the next time you see him he will have his brand new “Brad Pitt” nose as he calls it. ~sg

In preparation for Scott and Malia’s wedding we decided we all needed to get haircuts, Carter included. I have been cutting Carter’s hair in the past, but since I’m not all that good at it, I decided it was time to get him a professional haircut. It’s a special occasion after all : ) When I met Rob and Carter at the hair place Rob had already picked up a bag of goodies to distract little man during the cut. Not knowing this I had picked him up a new pack of gum. We felt pretty prepared. He did much better than I thought he would, especially after he got a lollipop from the receptionist! ~sg
